OOC participates in ANOC General Assembly meeting in Portugal

The Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) participated in the 27th General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) held in Portugal from October 29 to November 1, 2024.

The meeting was attended by representatives of more than 200 National Olympic Committees in the Portuguese city of Cascais, as well as Dr. Thomas Bach, President of International Olympic Committee, and representatives of International Olympic Committee, international and continental federations, and organizing committees for the upcoming Olympic sports tournaments. Khalid Mohammed Al Zubair, OOC Chairman, headed OOC delegation, accompanied by Taha Suleiman Al Kashri, OOC Secretary General.

During the meeting, a number of deceased sports leaders who influenced the Olympic movement were honored, and Dr. Thomas Bach, President of International Olympic Committee, delivered an opening speech to representatives of the various National Olympic Committees.

The meeting witnessed a review of a number of priority topics during the next stage, including the approval of the minutes of the 26th meeting of ANOC, which was held in South Korea in 2022. Several reports were also reviewed, represented by the report of the President ANOC and the Secretary-General, who reviewed the latest developments related to ANOC, the report of ANOC Beach Games of for 2023 and the report submitted by the Indonesian Olympic Committee, the decisions of the Executive Office of ANOC General Assembly, in addition to a visual report from the continental sports federations, the final report of the Organizing Committee for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games, and the report of the Organizing Committee for the XXXIV Olympic Games (Los Angeles 2028).

The report of the World Anti-Doping Agency, the report of the International Arbitration Agency, the report of the ANOC TV Digital Acceleration Program, ANOC strategic plan, the report of the International Federation of World Games, in addition to reports from the organizing committees of the upcoming Olympic Games represented by the Winter Olympic Games in Milan Cortina 2026, and the Fourth Youth Games in Dakar in 2026 were also reviewed.
