Oman defeats China at Asian junior beach handball championship

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman’s junior beach handball team triumphed over China, winning two sets to none in their final match at the third Asian Junior (under-17) Beach Handball Championship, which concluded in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Iranian team claimed the championship title, with Thailand securing second place and Qatar finishing in third, one set behind Oman’s team.

The Oman national team achieved a 2-0 victory over Jordan, suffered a 2-1 loss to Iran in their opening match, triumphed 2-0 over Indonesia in their second match, and narrowly lost to Thailand 2-1, before another 2-0 defeat to Qatar.

As a result of their performances, the Iranian, Thai, and Qatari teams have secured qualification for the third World Cup, set to take place in Hammamet, Tunisia, from 17 to 22 June 2025.

Notably, the third Asian Junior (under-17) Beach Handball Championship featured seven competing teams: Oman, Qatar, Iran, Jordan, China, Indonesia, and Thailand.
