Wadi Al Shwaimiyah is a haven  for explorers and adventurers

Shaleem and Al Halaniyat Islands: Wadi Al Shwaimiyah runs amidst the mountains of the Wilayat of Shaleem and Al Halaniyat Islands in Dhofar Governorate. It is located 52 kilometres from the wilayat and 12 kilometres from the centre of the Niyabat of Al Shwaimiyah .

A big part of this wadi falls within the Reserve of Jabal Samhan, which makes it a haven for explorers and lovers of nature.

Suhail bin Mohammed Al Meshaikhi, eco-systems specialist at the reserve of Jabal Samhan, stressed the environmental significance of Wadi Al Shwaimiyah and described it as the natural treasure in the area, thanks to its fascinating topography and caves which makes it a unique tourism destination.

He said that the wadi accommodates Ain Gharir , the spring considered as one of the landmarks of the region favoured by adventurers and explorers.

Ain Gharir, which flows from the top of the mountains forms a lake surrounded by date palm trees.

The presence of wadi helps in the growth of wild animals, birds and reptiles , he said, adding that it is also famous for its caves that attract visitors , adventure lovers and rock climbers.
