Embassy of Japan hosted conferment ceremony for Retired Minister Dr. Rawya

The Embassy of Japan in the Sultanate of Oman hosted on 5th of May 2024, at Crowne Plaza hotel Muscat a ceremony to confer the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star on Retired Minister Dr. Rawya bint Saud Al Busaidi. The conferment ceremony was attended by His Highness Sayyid Dr. Kamil bin Fahd Al Said, Secretary General in the General Secretariat for the Council of Ministers, Her Excellency Dr. Madiha Al Shibani, Minister of Education, His Excellency Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, President of Oman Investment Authority, Honorable Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Sarmi, Member of State Council, and a number of Omani senior officials and dignitaries, as well as H.E. Dr. Rawya’s family and friends. H.E. Jota YAMAMOTO, Ambassador of Japan to the Sultanate of Oman conferred the Order on Dr. Rawya Al Busaidi, on behalf of the Government of Japan.

The Government of Japan announced on 3rd of November 2023, the conferment of the Order on Dr. Rawya Al Busaidi in recognition of her pivotal role in fostering closer ties between Japan and the Sultanate of Oman in educational and academic spheres.

The Order of the Rising Sun, one of the prestigious decorations in Japan, was introduced in 1875. The award of the order for non-Japanese nationals started in 1981.
