Muscat: Muscat bourse started the year with a positive note with the index edging up by 0.12 per cent to close at 5412.88 points. The MSM Sharia Index closed at 857.58 points, up by 0.26 per cent.
Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of volume while Al Anwar Holding was the most active in terms of turnover. OIFC, up by 6.06 per cent, was the top gainer while Ahli Bank was the top loser, down by 1.53 per cent.
As many as 443 trades were executed on Sunday, generating turnover of OMR1.36 million with 9.47 million shares changing hands. Out of 25 traded securities, nine advanced, three declined and 13 remained unchanged.
Arab and GCC investors were net buyers to the tune of OMR87,000 worth of shares followed by foreign investors at OMR21,000. Omani investors, who were net sellers, sold shares amounting to OMR107,000.
Financial Index closed at 6,500.63 points, up by 0.36 per cent. Alizz Islamic Bank, Al Anwar Holding, Bank Nizwa and Oman United Insurance increased by 4.69 per cent, 4.24 per cent, 2.86 per cent and 1.38 per cent, respectively. Ahli Bank, Bank Sohar and United Finance declined by 1.53 per cent, 0.77 per cent and 0.64 per cent, respectively.
Industrial Index ended at 6,783.76 points, up by 0.19 per cent. Jazeera Steel Product was the only gainer and was up by 5.88 per cent to close at OMR0.145.
Services Index closed at 3,066.72 points, up by 0.36 per cent. OIFC, Al Jazeira Services and Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) increased by 6.06 per cent, 2.56 per cent and 0.32 per cent, respectively.
