Muscat: Heavy rainfall forecast continues across the Sultanate of Oman.

(3:00 pm) Rainfall expected to continue, says CAA
Most governorates of the Sultanate of Oman are likely to witness rainfall of varying intensity on Monday, April 15, 2024, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), said in weather alert No. 3.
The expected impacts of the weather condition:
-Heavy thundershowers with hail are expected ranging ( 30 -150 mm ) causing flashfloods .
- Strong downdraft active winds with speed ranging 15 - 45 knots ( 28 - 83 km / h).
-Sea state may rise along Musandam governorate and Oman Sea coasts (2-3 meters).
-Reduced horizontal visibility during thundershowers.
(2:10 pm) Two more bodies found; death toll 15
Search teams from the Civil Defence and Ambulance Department in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate were able to find the bodies of a child and a woman. The death toll has now reached 15 in Oman.
(12:20 pm) Education Ministry announces suspension of classes on Tuesday
Classes will be suspended in all government, private and foreign schools in all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, except for the Governorates of Dhofar and Al Wusta, on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. Classes will resume on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.
(11:30 am) ROP comes to the rescue of several stranded due to rising water levels
-According to ROP, Police aviation carried out an operation to transport 21 people from the farms area to the Al-Lasmo area in the Wilayat of Qurayyat , as they were unable to reach their homes due to the over flowing valleys.
-Three people were detained in their vehicle in the Wadi Halfin stream in the Wilayat of Adam in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. The report is being dealt with, ROP said.
-ROP is dealing with an incident where a person has been stuck inside his vehicle in the stream of Wadi Al Batha in the Wilayat of Sinaw, North Al Sharqiyah Governorate.
(11:00 am) CDAA rescues six people stranded in a house in Wilayat of Sinaw
Rescue teams from the Civil Defence and Ambulance Department in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate responded to a report about rising rain water levels in a house in the Wilayat of Sinaw. The teams were able to reach them and evacuate six people. All of whom are in good health.
(10:00 am) One more body found in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate; death toll reaches 13
CDAA said in a statement :"Part of the efforts of the search teams of the Civil Defence and Ambulance Department in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, with the support of other parties and citizens, where a missing person was found dead. Search efforts are still ongoing for three other people, including a child."
(8:45 am) CDAA evacuates two people in the Wilayat Ibra, North Al Sharqiyah Governorate.
CDAA said in a statement :"Two people were detained on their bicycles in the Western Valley in the Wilayat of Ibra. They are dealt with by the security services."
(8:00 am) ROP issues statement on child drowning incident
The child drowning accident that occurred in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate on April 14, 2024 was due to a guardian transporting his children and some of his relatives from the school, said an official at Royal Oman Police (ROP).
