I am planning not to do anything special this year but I am going to undo all the mistakes of the past 12 months while at the same strengthening my vows in life by trying to help people around me better than I did the year before.
In other words, I will make every day in this year count and I will leave no stone unturned on my path until I solve all the problems on the way towards the end of 2024. My family comes first and then people who seek my help.
I know I should have done better last year, but whatever blinded my vision then, I am better prepared this year than ever before. I will not stop when the bells of selfishness start ringing or falter on my tracks when a cold sweat starts rolling down on my neck. One of the biggest excuses we all make is that time during any day is very limited.
But when we have 365 days during the year, then we can always find time to do something that is important to our families and people who need us. The twenty fours in the day is long enough to stretch a helping hand unless we let our heads clouded by unimportant routines.
Looking back, the year 2023 went very fast just like the year before that. But the question is: can we let this year whizz past uneventfully just like last year? So from now on, while the days go past, we can now avoid a lot of wastes that should be replaced with usefulness. If you want to test yourself whether you made yourself useful in 2023, then go into a rewind mode in the last 12 months.
It is not about what you have achieved financially, the business deal you clinched or the new management position, but the heart strings you pulled of people close to you during the year. Money and power come and go but personal relationships, when nurtured properly, never lose their shine no matter what the challenges are.
A motivation to go through ‘a great year’ has no financial gain. How you touch people’s lives is the reward that has lasting impression. So, how exactly do you do that to make every day of the year count? The little things that normally go unnoticed. When done with great care, they give others fresh hopes and purpose. For example, finding time for people who need you around is one of them.
In other words, the life changing gestures have no monetary values but a little action to reach out for somebody’s feelings.
A listening ear, to some, can be life changing. Some of your friends may need their spirit lifted up and you can be there for them. Any little thing to restore the confidence of people around you is important and should be your priority this year.
If we all make that a priority in 2024, then we can change for the better our own little world around us for another year. Then the New Year will have a meaning for a real celebration.
