Oman expresses regret on America's veto of UN resolution on Gaza

Muscat: The Omani Foreign Ministry expressed the Sultanate's regret and rejection of the American administration's bias, and use of America's veto power against the draft UN resolution calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. This resolution aimed to address the deteriorating humanitarian situation and provide relief to civilians by meeting their living and medical needs.

In a statement, the ministry emphasized that warnings from the Secretary-General of the United Nations and international humanitarian institutions regarding the living conditions of the besieged Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, as well as the collapse of United Nations agencies' ability to carry out their duties, show there is a significant threat to the international system's ability to fulfil its responsibilities in accordance with Charter of the United Nations.

The Foreign Ministry renewed Oman's call for the international community to exert all political, diplomatic, and legal efforts to lift the siege on the Gaza Strip, halt Israel's attacks, and hold it accountable for the war crimes committed against the Palestinian people.

The Sultanate of Oman urged the immediate provision of all necessary relief, steadfast support for the people's resilience on the ground, and ensuring their protection from this brutal aggression.
