Muscat: alizz islamic bank has said that its chief executive officer Salaam Said Al Shaksy, was recently presented with the ‘Top CEO’ award by ‘Trends’ magazine and Insead Business School.
‘Top CEO Awards’ is a red carpet awards ceremony celebrating and recognising achievements of the top 100 CEOs in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. Organised by ‘Trends’ magazine and the prestigious Insead Business School, the Top CEO Awards target the region’s most influential decision makers. It is the only regional ranking based on the financial statements of publicly listed companies. The awards celebrate the achievement of the region’s top players in the market, making them the most credible and transparent in the region.
Al Shaksy is a member of Oman’s State Council and deputy head of its Economic Committee. He is also a member of the board of directors of Oman Oil Company and chairman of its board Audit and Risk Committee. His other appointments include: member of the board and board executive committee of Al Raff’d Fund (Oman’s Government funded SME fund); chairman of Oman’s Investment Stabilisation Fund; member of the advisory board at The College of Economics & Political Science, Sultan Qaboos University; and chairman of The Shaksy Group.
Al Shaksy is a graduate of Boston University, the US, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Economics (cum laude), a Masters in Management Information Systems (Honours) and an MBA in Management of Financial Services (High Honours).
He has also completed the senior executive programme from the London Business School, UK. Al Shaksy is the first Omani CEO of a fullfledged Islamic bank in Oman and has received a number of awards in banking, including ‘Banker of the Year 2008’ — Banker Middle East, UAE.
