Muscat: Many villages in the Wilayats of Sohar, Liwa and Shinas in Al Batinah North Governorate have experienced rainfall of varying intensities on Monday, a statement issued online by the Oman News Agency reported.
An official from Oman Meteorology confirmed exclusively to Times of Oman that the air groove affecting the Sultanate’s skies since Friday noon will continue until Tuesday.
Villages of Falaj al-Qabail, Haret al-Sheikh, and Al-Multaqa of Wilayat of Sohar witnessed light to medium rainfall while most of the villages in the Wilayat of Liwa witnessed medium to heavy rainfall. The southern villages of the Wilayat of Shinas experienced medium to heavy rainfall.
It also rained in the Wilayat of Al-Awabi in the Governorate of South Al-Batinah.
The rainfall has led to the overflow of a number of reefs and valleys in most of the Wilayates in the aforementioned governorates.
Oman Meteorology also confirmed that, ”A local formations and thunderstorms active in Hajar Mountains located in North Al Batinah, South of Al Batinah, Al Buraimi, Al Dakhiliyah, Muscat Mountains, Al Sharqiyah North and parts of Al Sharqiyah South extending to the coasts of the Sea of Oman.”
“Cumulonimbus clouds form near the coast of Dhofar and on the mountains of Dhofar, and chances of rain later,” the statement added
