Muscat: Omani rally champion Abdullah Al Rawahi on Skoda Fabia with Jordanian Navigator Atta Al Hamoud will take part in the first round of Jordan’s National Rally on 28 April along with the second Omani rally driver Zakaria Al Amri and his co-driver Mohammed Al Mazroui on Subaru Impreza N14.
The rally which consist of 5 stages at the Dead Sea in Baptism and Ma’in will be attended by 24 drivers from Jordan, Lebanon, Kuwait and the Sultanate.
All the participants will be looking at this rally as the first participation for the MERC second round which will be organised in Jordan next month.
Abdullah Al Rawahi who won the first round of the Middle East rally championship in Oman last January has withdrawn from the second round of MERC inQatar international rally and will try to overcome last rally disappointment to be again at podium and to gain more points in this championship. Meanwhile the Qatari champion Nasser Al Attayah is still leading the championship.
Zakaria Al Amri will try to recover from the last frustration in Qatar International rally as he was forced to leave in the beginning in super special stage due to some technical issues in the car.
Al Rawahi stated: "I am here in Jordan in the National rally to prepare myself for the International One, which will be held in similar terrain and stages, we will be focusing on our strategy during the race and hope that it will end successful this time without any technical problems to reach at top by the end of the race”.
Meanwhile, Zakaria Al Amri on Subaru Impreza will be joining this rally as a test to have a better look at the next stages and workout some calculations with Navigator Al Mazroui. Both drivers have an excellent experience in Jordan’s National and International rally championships and are looking forward for podium finish this time.
