Oman weather: Sultanate records its hottest day

Muscat: Fahud, Adam and Qarn Al Alam recorded a record temperature of 48 degree Celsius on Sunday; one of the highest in Oman this summer, the Oman Meteorology Department tweeted on its official Twitter handle.
“It might be the hottest day in Oman this summer. It was very hard to persist in the day time,” stated Basheer P, who works in a petrol station in Adam.
According to Oman meteorology’s website, Muscat witnessed a temperature of 40 degree Celsius on Sunday.
Meanwhile, AccuWeather.com also reported that Muscat witnessed 39 degree Celsius.
People in Muscat reported on social networking sites that the temperature was higher than reported.
“At night, the temperature is shown 40 degrees in my phone so the day time temperature will be higher than that,” Venu G Nair, an Indian expat told the Times of Oman.
According to Oman Meteorology Department’s tweet Qairoon Hirti and Dhalkut recorded the lowest temperature of 20 degree Celsius on Sunday.
In its 24-hour outlook, the Meteorology Department said cloudy skies over Dhofar Governorate and adjoining mountains with intermittent drizzle and fog formation over the mountains. “Mainly clear skies over rest of the Sultanate with chances of isolated rain and occasionally thundershowers over Al Hajar Mountains,” it said.
