Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) has finished repairing the damages caused by Cyclone Shaheen on Wadi Al Hawasnah road in the Wilayat of Al Khabourah. The road is now open for commuters.
The project included repairing 20 sites along the route, leveling footpaths at a length of 60 km, in addition to implementing nine valley crossings and a number of “box culverts” in five locations.
The implementation of road repair works was taken into account the standard specifications approved in the Road Design Manual, and it was provided with traffic safety requirements and guidelines.
On Oct. 3, 2021, Cyclone Shaheen was categorised as a severe cyclonic storm when it made landfall in the Sultanate of Oman with sustained winds of 70 miles per hour.
