Muscat: The Director General of Operations at the Royal Oman Police has said that a plan has been made to deal with the expected congestion for Muscat Nights by opening additional traffic lanes.
Brigadier General Mohammed bin Nasser Al Kindi, Director General of Operations at the Royal Oman Police, said that the police will take over traffic regulation of the locations expected to witness congestion due to the Muscat Nights activities. This will be done through a plan to open other lanes to reduce congestion.
The Brigadier explained that the police will provide advice and guidance, and will deploy members of civil defense to help if necessary. The police will also participate in a number of educational shows and exhibitions during the activities that start from January 19 and will continue until February 4.
On the other hand, His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Hamidi, the Chairman of Muscat Municipality, said that in order to prevent traffic congestion in the Qurum region, the Muscat Nights event will be in a part of the park including the lake and its nearby areas.
Al Hamidi explained that the Muscat Nights event is new and not linked to the Muscat Festival event, as most of its activities will be held in the evening, adding that local and regional changes and observations received by the Muscat Municipality were taken into account during the planning period for the event.
It is worth noting that the activities of Muscat Nights 2023 will be held in four main locations: Al Qurum Natural Park, Al Naseem Public Park, the Oman Automobile Association and the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center.
