Muscat: The Slaughterhouse Directorate at Muscat Municipality called on the public to avoid the slaughter of livestock in places other than the slaughterhouse to avoid disease.
Eight people have died so far this year from Crimean-Congo Haemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) in various governorates of the Sultanate.
The Slaughterhouses Directorate at Muscat Municipality finished preparing Bausher and Seeb slaughterhouses for the holy month of Ramadan. The two slaughterhouses were equipped as 25 butchers were hired on temporary contracts.
The directorate also ensured the availability of sufficient numbers of livestock as several meetings took place with livestock traders to discuss the importance of availability of different livestock.
The directorate also extended the working hours during Ramadan. Bausher slaughterhouse will function in two periods starting from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and from 10:00 pm to midnight, while in Seeb the slaughterhouse will open for one period only which starts from 9.00 am and ends at 5.00 pm.
