Muscat: With as many as 3,544 new cases of coronavirus registered during the last three days, for the first time the Sultanate recorded more than 730 hospitalisations in a span of three days.
Among them, 229 are admitted to the intensive care units (ICUs), according to data from the Ministry of Health, pointing to a significant increase in coronavirus infections in the region.
On Sunday, statistics made available on the Tarassud, the coronavirus monitoring app launched by the Ministry, showed that the number of hospitalised patients during the past 24 hours reached 105, bringing the total number of patients admitted to health institutions to 733.
The Sultanate also recorded 29 deaths during the past three days bringing the total number of deaths to 1,776, according to the Ministry of Health.
The Ministry stated that the total number of registered cases in the Sultanate is 171,549, while the number of recovered patients stood at 152,784.
Speaking exclusively to the Times of Oman, Ibrahim Al Maimani, a data analyst, said: “The Sultanate for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic recorded 733 cases in hospitals, of whom 229 are in intensive care units. For the tenth day in a row, more than a thousand cases were recorded, bringing the total to 11,531 new cases, while the corresponding recovery stood at 8,145 cases.”
