Workshop organised on developing building materials sector in Oman

Muscat: The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion is organising a two-day workshop to study the building materials sector in the Sultanate of Oman.

The workshop, which began in Muscat on Tuesday, is being held in cooperation with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). It aims to enhance market efficiency and raise the standard of competitiveness in the building materials sector.

The workshop is attended by government officials, experts in the field and representatives of relevant governmental and regulatory bodies.

The workshop seeks to verify the preliminary outcomes of the study on the building materials sector through the use of expertise of relevant stakeholders. It engages stakeholders in developing practices that contribute to developing the efficiency of the Omani market and improving the business and investment environment.

The workshop will explore investment opportunities related to urban expansion and major development projects that are underway in the Sultanate of Oman, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040. These projects include smart cities like the Sultan Haitham City, projects to develop logistics infrastructure and key ports in Duqm, Sohar and Salalah—in addition to projects on renewable energy and green hydrogen.
